Name: Makiyoto Hitsugaya
Nickname: Maki, The Phantom Swordsman
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 190 lbs.
Appearance:Maki is a rather attractive fellow, if one were to believe what the women around the village tended to say. He was tall and dashing, standing at just over six feet, his body was definitely built well for a Samurai. His sensei had taught him from a young age to be strong and tough. His well toned body is littered by scars from the intense training and mistakes he had made over the years while learning to wield a blade. He had learned though, and finally mastered his usage of the blade. His hair is a light shade of white, kept short but spiked up.
They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul, this remains true even for one such as Maki. His eyes reveal his general apathy towards most things and people he doesn't know, but that is simply the outside that he shows people. Only those who look deeply inside of his soul can see his true nature. He often come off as cold or as some call it, "cool". In reality, he is loyal to the Land of Iron and this loyalty shows powerfully through his eyes if one looks closely enough.
His wardrobe consists of two outfits really. One is the most common to catch him in on any given day. It is a black shirt with black pants. The shirt is tight, leaving any musculature it covers showing rather clearly through the fabric. Over this, he wears a red trench coat that comes down to his ankles. He keeps his sword strapped horizontally across his lower back for the time being. Because of this, he has easy access to it. His motions when performing bukijutsu katas are described as being graceful, almost thoughtless and carefree, yet he performs them perfectly. His overall ease of movement betrays his training.
His other most common outfit is just a black shirt and pants like before topped by a pure white cloak. When he is in this outfit, he typically keeps the hood pulled up. His blade is always tucked on his back vertically when he is in this outfit so as to not be hindered by the more flowing cloak.

Personality: Makiyoto Hitsugaya is a very complex person and one who many people find it hard to get a good reading on. He has two distinct personalities, the outer one and the inner one. The outer personality is apparent to anyone who meets him, while his inner personality is only seen by those who he is close to or when he is in the middle of a big fight. He does enjoy battling, but he despises having his time wasted on weaker opponents, or those whom he doesn't feel are putting all of their effort into a fight. He will never waste time in a battle, he will end it swiftly and brutally if he can.
Outer Personality: To most people he meets, he comes off as arrogant and uncaring. Often brushing off people and distancing himself from most anyone he comes into contact with. To the women of the village, he is seen as a brooding cool guy. But, the men of the village often see him as trying too hard to be the "cool guy" to impress women. He often ignores people, but if someone is powerful enough to warrant his attention, he will talk to them in a polite manner.
Inner Personality: To those whom he considers friends, Maki is seen as a friendly person for the most part. He can still be somewhat cold and harsh, but he does it in a nice way if that's possible. He is loyal to his village above all else and this becomes evident when he is willing to put his life on the line for the protection of the Land of Iron to repay the debt he feels that he owes to Jinto, the Shogun. He is also loyal to those whom he considers a friend, as such, he would give all he had to protect them so long as they pose no threat to his nation.
Character History: Maki was born in the Land of Iron, not two two well known Samurai, not to the Shogun, not even to two unknown merchants. No, he never knew his parents. He was born and raised in a place deep in Shimogakure's underground. He was created by a man named Shiro Yamamoto. Yes, he was created. Shiro believed that the Samurai of the day had become weak, their bloodlines diluted after years of being cut off from the rest of the world. He wanted to create the "Perfect Samurai" one that he could raise and train to become just like he envisioned the Samurai of the old days to have been. He was "born" from a chamber where Shiro was able to successfully create DNA from some of the top Samurai in the land, he was also able to remove any strands he deemed, unworthy of his mastery. His official training began when he was just three years old. He was taught the basics of survival and some basic history of the Land of Iron and even the Elemental Nations. By the time he was five, he was abandoned in the wilderness for one year with nothing but the ragged clothes on his back and a simple steel sword by his side.
It was during this year that he took on the basis of archery in addition to using his sword. It helped him hunt and survive for the entire year in one of the harshest climates in the world. Things in Shimogakure didn't slow down however, and the Shogun had learned of Shiro's experiments. He launched a full scale assault on the hidden laboratory with the intent on destroying it and any experiment remaining in it. It took several days to comb through the entire underground complex, but after it was done, it was all destroyed. Shiro himself perished to the hands of the Shogun, Jinto himself. It was around six months after this that Maki's training in the wilderness had ended and he returned to find that his old home was in ruins. He did not mourn for it though, as he was never treated well there. He was forced to endure intense training with extreme punishments whenever he failed to perform at the level they wanted. His only problem now was that he was homeless. He spent another year wandering the wilderness in search of somewhere to call his own.
He had been at it for a long time and his time in the frozen tundra had finally caught up to him. He had passed out in the snow and was simply lying in wait for death to pick him up. To say he was surprised when he awoke in a hospital would most definitely be an understatement. Apparently, he had been found less than a mile outside of the village. As luck would have it, the one who found him is none other than the Shogun of the Land of Iron. It was by sheer fate that he had been taking a stroll of his land and found the boy half dead in the snow. He had been in a coma for a little more than a month before he finally awoke. Jinto had realized the boy would make an excellent Samurai purely based on how skillfully he managed to escape the hospital using only a table leg. He managed to take down not only the staff, but the guards that were stationed outside of the hospital as well. It was only after Jinto himself intervened that the boy was subdued. It was after this incident that Jinto offered to train the boy in the art of Bushido personally.
In the next few years, the boy would progress greatly in his studies to become a Samurai. He had mastered his weapons training, even learning the other skills that were available to only masterful Samurai. It took him almost two decades, but he made it to the right level that he was considered a Master Samurai, one of the highest caliber. He had even created his own weapons, ones that embodied his personality and his spirit that had been kindled over the years. Using his blade, he put himself even farther above his peers, being recognized as one of the highest elites in the Land of Iron. He managed to even secure a position in one of the most esteemed organizations in the world, on par with the Legendary Mist Swordsmen. The 'Generation of Miracles' the most elite of any elite Samurai in the world. It was counted among the highest honors, he would need to be sure to work hard to keep himself in pique condition. He had been in this position for a few months now and he was definitely enjoying it. Looking back on his childhood, he owed a lot to the old man who had found him all those years ago.
